This holiday home is a short walk to the main high street, Boroughgate, which is described as being one of the finest in England, and it’s also only a short walk to the river where you can walk past the cricket ground and out along the river bank where friendly ducks and even an occasional elusive otter can be sighted. Spend time exploring the magnificent countryside or take a trip on the famous Settle-Carlisle railway line and visit the likes of Settle and Skipton to take in the Yorkshire countryside before crossing the famous Ribblehead Viaduct. To the west of Appleby is the Lake District whose northern and central lakes are within easy reach, and to the east lie the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With the Yorkshire Dales, Hadrian's Wall and the Scottish Borders all within easy reach makes any holiday in this wonderful area a memorable one.

Blacksmith Cottage Reviews

The house was great, just as expected. It had everything we required and the owners were friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back.
Blacksmith Cottage was restful and very quiet, good walks locally for the dog and nice area round about.
A nice comfy Cottage in an excellent location.
Our holiday was just what we wanted, nice and relaxing. The cottage was in an excellent position. The owner of the cottage greeted us on our arrival.
Comfy house in a great location
We stayed for a week to do some walking in the area. The weather was pretty poor but the house was well equipped and comfortable. It was great to have such a cosy place to warm up and dry out! The covered area to the rear was especially useful for cleaning our boots and the owner helpfully supplied a bucket. We ate out in the evenings (after all it is a holiday) but there are few places to do so on foot. The Turton Arms and the Ashiana are in the village centre and both are good, the other pubs don't do food. The Royal Oak is good but it's a ten minute walk uphill.
This cottage was homely enough to feel like we'd moved home temporarily, and were living amongst locals like the owners next door rather than being in a group of holiday properties. We liked being in the centre of the town, and were pleased to be part of Appleby's economic revival after the winter flood damage. The decoration, style and furnishings were clean, smart and comfortable.
A lovely welcome from the owners. It was an excellent base for exploring The Lakes and The Eden Valley. Everything about the cottage was great and we would recommend it to our friends.
The cottage was well-equipped, warm and comfortable during a period of awful weather. It was centrally placed for the town's amenities. The owners were friendly and helpful. We would visit again in hopefully better weather. We enjoyed some local walks and the local shops and pubs, and always looked forward to returning to the cottage. It was particularly nice to be able to have our dog with us. In better weather the lovely garden would have well-used.
Extremely helpful and friendly hosts. The property is situated in an ideal area for exploring the Lake District, The Scottish Borders, The Yorkshire Dales and The Northern Pennines.
