Hartcliffe View Reviews

Andrew
We were a group ranging in age from 11 months to 81. The house suited our needs perfectly, catering for everyone. We required ground floor sleeping accomodation as well as downstairs living and socialising areas as our elderly member could not access the stairs. Once again, the house proved perfect for this. Sleeping accomodation catered really well for 2 couples, a couple with a baby and a family. The play pen provided by our hosts proved invaluable as we were able to relax as baby played happily and safely in the pen. The extensive grounds were enjoyed by all, particularly as the weather was lovely. We hired 2 hot tubs and these were used and enjoyed by all. We hired Tom and Mark to cook a meal to celebrate a special birthday and this was excellent. The games room on the top floor was perfect for the children aged 10 and 12 and the adults joined in too. A great time was had by all. We were lucky that Ed and Kim were staying next door and could attend to any very minor issues. Thank you! Everyone in the party was very complimentary about the house and are looking forward to returning. Thank you so much to Ed and Kim for their hospitality and generosity the wine and biscuits were much appreciated. Thank you so much.
We really enjoyed our stay. It was everything we hoped for. Clean, spacious, comfortable beds & bedding. Great having sky sport and the games room is awesome as are the views. Amenities excellent, cooking facilities great. Near to lovely walkbike trail. Jacuzzi bath a special treat too. Lovely and warm property. Welcome gift of 2 bottles of wine & tin of biscuits was appreciated. Managed to lock ourselves out of the property but the owner rectified that promptly for us. Theres no cafetire, or we just couldnt find it. Otherwise a perfect place to stay. Thank you Ed for providing such a lovely holiday home.
The property is stunning. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you require and the beds are very comfortable. The owners were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. We decided to hire the chefs recommended in the listing, they were great and very accommodating. The food was amazing. The weekend was lovely
This is a beautiful place to stay. 15 of us stayed for my parents 80th birthday celebrations. From 18months old to 80 and everyone loved hartcliffe view.
Had an amazing stay at the cottage. Family of 12 with more than enough space for everyone. My son practically lived in the games room and all bedrooms were comfy and clean. Most well equipped cottage we have stayed in. Very much recommend!
Christine
Fantastic property with immaculate rooms, plenty of kitchen equipment and crockery, huge grassed garden and fantastic views from the back of the house! The owner was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
Bridget
This property was perfect for our holiday group of 13 between the ages of 6279 and three dogs! Lovely underfloor heating warmed up the house in no time on arrival. Bedrooms plentiful and well equipped. Spoilt for choice as to which bedrooms we would all have! Communication with owner was top notch. Personal chef experience with Tom was brilliant. We all had a lovely meal adapted to suit all requirements. Trips out on rainy days were plentiful and we thoroughly enjoyed venturing out. The dogs loved the garden which was well enclosed which gave us piece of mind. Plenty of car parking at the front of the house. We would certainly recommend this accommodation to anyone with a large group. A small suggestion maybe it would be nice if there was an additional key to take with us when going out as well as well as the one key to put back into the safe lock. We locked ourselves out as we split ourselves into two groups one group thinking the other had put the key back into the safe place. Luckily we managed to get back in! The key was still in the inner door!!!
The property was exactly what was advertised, perfect for a group get together. Perfect for the older people in the group. Amazing views and games room.. loved the balcony.
Oliver
Wow. What can we say. Lived up to all our expectations and more. This holiday home had EVERYTHING we needed and more. Every time we thought would be super handy if they had something, wed look and find it. So what was great? It was super clean, really comfortable, incredibly well fitted out and in a beautiful location. We used the hot tub company which was great too. All beds were super comfy. The games room was so much fun. The kids loved having a TV in every room you think you wouldn't need this, but its really handy!. We loved the attention to detail it very much feels like its been designed to be an ideal holiday vacation property. The owners are also super nice and helpful Ed couldnt have done more for us. Lots of communication. One thing to note there is a huge marble staircase and a spiral staircase both of which are amazing, but we had a 3 year old with us who we needed to watch all the time on both. Younger kids under6 need to be supervised in the games room. Thanks again for such a great stay, we really hope to be back!
Hartcliffe View had the most extensive range of cooking utensils that we have come across in any of the cottages we have stayed in. Would be useful to have an airer for wet clothes in the utility room
What a fabulous place Hartcliffe View is. We have just returned from a weekend birthday celebration with all the family. 12 humans and 3 little dogs. Firstly this is a completely dog friendly place with a large walled garden, big dog bed, bowls etc. provided. The house has everything you could possibly need for your stay with a fully equipped kitchen and utility room home away from home just bring your food theres plenty of storage. Kitchen roll, bin bags, spices , condiments even ice for our evening tipple were all provided. The complimentary couple of bottles of red and tin of biscuits was much appreciated thank you Ed. The kitchen quickly became the hub of the house. On another note there were plenty of loo roll supplied for every bathroom which is not always the case with holiday rentals and there is a hairdryer in every room. The house is well presented and very clean. The large dining room meant we could sit down together and enjoy shared meals into the evening. The house is big enough for everyone to have their space with plenty of activities, the games room was a big hit as was the 70inch TV in the lounge with Sky Sports and a PlayStation. We hired the hot tub as an extra just as an aside for me it should be included in the house hire as these days hot tubs usually are because who doesnt like a hot tub and even though we had inclement weather it was great to sit with a glass of fizz taking in the lovely farm land views. We had an 18 month old toddler with us the supply of a baby gate, cot, soft play area, bath toys and high chairs were very welcome ! We visited the friendly local pub open fire, pool table and dart board for a quick drink after walking in the area plenty of countryside walks round there. All in all we had a thoroughly lovely time and can all highly recommend Hartcliffe we will be back thanks for your hospitality Ed ! Wendy and the Von Trapp Family Singers !
The house was excellent for our stay. 5 couples for a long weekend dog walking very close to some excellent walking along the Penine way. House was well equipped with lots and lots of board games and obviously the games room. All the other facilities within the house were spot on
Stephen
Perfect place for a large family get together for my fathers 90th Birthday. Well appointed and fully equipped, with everything that you would need for the family. The kitchen was spacious with everything that you would require to cater for a large group. Really impressed with the soft play equipment, he large garden and the games room. This offered great views of the surrounding area. The weather was very good and we managed to walk up to the view point and other walks while we were there. The beds were comfortable and everyone had great night sleep, it was home from home and very relaxing. The owners were great, contacting us prior to going and while we were there to ensure that all was OK and there were no problems. Thanks Ed and Kim for a great weekend. I would recommend this property for a family get together.
Elizabeth
Stunning house and location our group had a lovely break
The house was grand, set on a large secure plot, great for the dogs. The views were beautiful. The owners were very welcoming and quick to respond to any queries. The layout suited our family well as the house is big enough to spread out and not be under each others feet whilst still having large enough communal spaces to be together comfortably. The beds were especially comfy! Everyone commented on them. For us, the only downside was it was quite noisy with the tiled floors and no curtains, cushions or rugs to soften things. This was only a small gripe and wouldnt stop us staying again Thanks to Ed and Kim
Ideal property for a family celebration weekend with four families, eight grandchildren and four dogs. That number makes a lot of rubbish however so I would suggest naming the swingbins and providing extra binliners might be helpful. The hottub was a great hit with all ages.
Michael
A excellent property, super facilities and such views in every direction. There was thirteen in our group and every one agreed we had a wonderful holiday! To have somewhere comfortable to return to after our walks made every day a treat! Wed like to take this opportunity to thank Edwin and Kim for allowing us to stay in their fantastic home! We look forward to returning in 24!
Fantastic property which was extremely well equipped. Great location and garden. Owner was very helpful and a great communicator, nothing was a problem.
Absolutely loved our stay at Hartcliffe View! Couldn't recommend this place more. It was immaculate when we arrived and we were stunned how beautiful the house was. 12 of us stayed here with our two dogs and everyone had a great time. The hosts were so lovely and accommodating. 5 stars!!
An amazing place to stay! My family and I had an utterly wonderful stay at Hartcliffe View, the property and views are outstanding, the owners were super helpful and friendly and every single thing we needed was catered for. There were 13 in our group and every single one of them said how much they loved their stay at Hartcliffe View, Im so happy I booked it!
Stephen
Excellent place, with all the items needed for a great stay. Host very attentive to our needs. Would recommend for a large gatheringfamily event.
Absolutely fantastic, owner could not have been any better and the whole stay was brilliant.
Sharon
We had a great week here. The owner was super responsive & the house was well equipped for a big family group ranging in age from 8 months to 60 years. No one wanted to leave.

We had an amazing weekend at Hartcliffe View a long overdue family get together. A stunning location with open countryside all around, which provided great walks for our four dogs. Even although there were 11 adults, there was a huge amount of space and various rooms in which to congregate or relax or have fun we never felt like we were living on top of each other. The games room was fantastic and hiring the optional hot tub meant that there was something for everyone. The beds were all so comfortable and there was plenty of storage room in each of the bedrooms, which were all a good size. The front drive easily coped with our four cars and the pub along the road 200 yards meant a welcome libation at the end of our countryside walks. Dogs are very well catered for and it's not often you can say that a garden is completely enclosed and extremely dogfriendly not to mention the size, which was incredible. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need to cater for our party with copious amounts of large pans, baking trays, serving dishes, glasses etc and storage and fridgefreezer space galore. Everything had been very carefully thought through to ensure our stay was stress free and relaxing. Ed was a great host so approachable, accommodating, helpful and considerate. Every one of us would visit again in a heartbeat perhaps in the summer months when we could really take advantage of the fantastic outdoor space and BBQ. Cannot recommend enough!
Timothy
A great stay for family and friends for a birthday celebration. Very well equipped, particularly the kitchen and everything had been thought of. Well placed to explore the area. Football in the garden and long walks built appetites for sociable evenings. Would recommend Tom the local caterer who produced a lovely meal for us, pretty much to our own specifications. One tiny quibble is that there was no mention on the website that the games room is accessible only up a narrow spiral staircase which made it a no go area for the more elderly in our party. That apart, it was perfect for us.
Alison
We had a fantastic weekend. The house was amazing, on entering the marble staircase with chandelier gives you a wow factor and remains through the whole of the property. We were a family of 11 and we had everything we needed from a beautiful kitchen to prep & cook food, to a dining area where we could all sit & eat together. The lounge was also amazing with a lovely Christmas tree. The patio & garden looked so inviting only sad that it was a wet winters weekend so we couldnt get to enjoy it! Would like to thank Mr & Mrs Morris who have been fabulous , keeping in touch to make sure everything was ok & that we had everything we needed. Would love to come back, the area is stunning & has a lot to offer .
This house was very well equipped and had everything we needed. Thank you!
Elaine
We had a wonderful stay at Hartcliffe View it is a beautiful and spacious house with so much to keep us occupied if the weather kept us indoors. The walks from the house were a dog owners dream and the views were amazing. The owner kindly made himself available to help in any way but everything was as described and expected so no issues to resolve. I think the only things that the make up of our party would have changed would have been 1. The entrance hall is magnificent and beautiful but we found the space and flooring caused every sound to echo around the house, even with the doors closed. With 3 very young children in our party, we did find ourselves talking in whispers so as not to disturb them after they had settled for the night. 2. While the sensor lights in the bathrooms are mostly helpful, they can disturb others if youre getting up to use the loo in the night. Impossible to tiptoe to the bathroom in the darkness! Aside from those 2 very minor points we were very impressed with the standard of the house and all the equipment provided. We also fell in love with the area.
Dorothy
We have recently spent a family gettogether at Hartcliffe View, and had a fantastic break ,from a 14 year old to a 78 year old. An amazing country view from the back garden to an outstanding, spotless house, which was equipped with everything we needed, plus extra touches of welcoming gifts of wine & chocolates. We are presently planning a return visit, school holiday and work commitments permitting. The owners should be very proud of their lovely outstanding property.Thank you.
We booked a week at Hartcliffe View to celebrate my 80th birthday with all the family with ages ranging from 18 to 81. 14 of us shared the facilities very comfortably. Excellent property for family or friend gatherings. Very well equipped house, kitchen very sizeable and fantastic for a large group. The games room exceeded our expectations, a large space which was enjoyed by all. The large table in the dining room was welcomed to all sit together at mealtimes. The views from the property are amazing with convenient local walks. We found the property very clean. Ed the owner was very approachable and contacted us to ensure all was ok. A highly recommended property that exceeded our expectations, every little thing has been thought about for holidaymakers in this property.
Well what can I say ! Everything about Hartcliffe View is outstanding and is the perfect place for a celebration or just time with friends and family. We spent the weekend playing games, relaxing, using the hot tub and also had Tom Binns to cook for us on Saturday night to complete our stay. All the rooms are superb, the kitchen complete with everything you could possibly need and the games room was fantastic. The owners Ed and his wife are the perfect hosts and always available if you have any questions. Would highly recommend !!
Timothy
Great holiday house. The owner was in contact to provide access to keys and if we had any issues e.g. finding problems hidden and left by a previous occupant was very responsive. Had a great time and the nearby Transpennine trail was a great easy walk.
Had an enjoyable stay, the house was as advertised. Everything we needed was there. Ed was easily contactable. The one minor problem we had was quickly sorted out by him. He can in contact by phone to ensure everything was ok & wed had an enjoyable time. Highly recommend tubs4hire company.
Charles
First ED the owner was so nice and supportive. He was there if we needed anything. The property is absolutely fantabulous. The rooms are specious and clean. The facilities are also in abundance. We never missed anything. The location of the property is absolutely gorgeous and we will definitely be back. This is one of the top 5 cottages that I have visited.
A very spacious, bright and spotless property. Plenty of off road parking. Absolutely perfect for a large family or group of friends. We were blessed with excellent weather so spent a lot of time out on the patio and garden which is huge. The house has a well stocked kitchen and plenty of seats around the very large dining table. Both Mr Morris and Sykes are quickly on hand to resolve any questions issues . A most enjoyable stay
Absolutely amazing house, fantastic location and brilliant hosts, luxury at its upmost best. Everything is thought of within the house, there's nothing you need except food and yr clothes. Beautifully furnished, exceptionally clean , just wow! 12 of us stayed and none of us felt like we were under each others feet due to the spaciousness inside the house. Some fab walks and local pubs. We all absolutely loved it. Owner was very approachable and very helpful.
It's easy to understand why this property has such a high rating, the house is simply beautiful and the garden is perfect for kids to play but the extra touches make it really special, like the soaps in the rooms, the well equipped kitchen and the endless supply of boardgames. The host was super friendly and welcoming as well. Will definitely look to book again in the summer when we cam enjoy the pizza oven and huge outside table. Thanks for a lovely stay!
Victoria
Well what can I say about Hartcliffe View? From the minute we pulled up on the drive we knew it was going to be spectacular inside. Then you open the doors and see the sweeping staircase and every room off it does not disappoint. Spotless clean. Beautiful crisp bedding and lovely soft towels. Divine smell in the rooms also! The kitchen wow! What a room. We spent many an hour in there! The appliances, utensils, condiments and crockery was just like being in your own kitchen. Nothing they didnt have. We held our own New Years Eve black tie dinner and it was the perfect house for entertaining. We laughed, we danced, we sang, we chilled, we escaped from busy city living after a very sad year for myself and my family! A special thanks to the owners for opening their home out to us and for also being in contact from before check in to after departure to ensure everything was perfect and also for our beautiful New Year hamper. Hartcliffe View you will always have a place in our hearts.
Christine
We had a wonderful family Christmas at Hartcliffe View. The house offered excellent accommodation and cooking facilities for our group, plus 2 dogs. The games room was especially appreciated as the weather was quite rainy although there are also some lovely walks from the property. We didnt venture to any local pubs or eateries due to COVID but did have a wander around Holmfirth which was very quaint. We hired the hot tub which I imagine would be particularly enjoyable in the summer as the garden has a wonderful outlook. Im pleased Id read previous reviews about bringing non slip footwear due to the shiny flooring throughout the property as this could be a hazard to very young elderly guests and the stairs are also quite steep. It took a couple of days for upstairs bedrooms to warm up due to underfloor heating throughout but the beds bedding was very comfy. This is a fabulous property for large family gatherings in a lovely location.
