The Temple Reviews

Sarah
We loved our stay here! The hot tubs and bar area were fantasticand the location is unbeatable-just a couple of minutes from shops and cafes. A quick refresh in some bedrooms would be niceand bringing your own pillow is a good idea. Overall, great value!
Ellie Roberts
We loved the house, it’s got such a charming vibe and the views are truly breathtaking. The location is perfect, close to town but also surrounded by lovely walking trails and hikes. There were a couple of spots that could have been cleanerand the water temperature in some showers was a bit tricky to get right, but it didn’t ruin our stay. Overall, we’d definitely return and recommend it for big groups or families. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again!
Emma Carter
We loved staying here! The place is spacious, very comfortableand well kitted out. Matlock’s charm really shines through, though a few areas felt a bit cramped. Still, great stay!
Emma
We loved the spot for a big family get-together. The main lounge is super comfy with lovely viewsand having access to the garden was a real plus. Plus, the location is perfect with loads of things nearby for everyone to enjoy. Definitely recommend!
James
It got really chilly inside when the heating wouldn't turn upand we just couldn't figure it out. Frustrating!
Emma
The house was perfect for our hen do, plenty of space for all 34 of us, from teenagers to seniors. Well stocked and comfortable, it really made our weekend special. Would definitely recommend!
Emma

Jane
We all had a great week at The Temple with our big group of 32, from tiny tots to seniors. The shared spaces like the lounge and kitchen were nice and comfy, making it easy to cook for everyone. The pub was a hit for family fun. Hot showers and comfy beds kept us happyand the hot tubs were definitely a highlight! Plenty of walks around Matlock Bath kept us busy too. It’s a perfect place for a large get-together without any hassle.
Emma
We had a fantastic time celebrating a birthday at The Temple with 30 of us. Each of us had our own room with an ensuite, which was really handyand the shared spaces were perfect for our big group. The kids loved playing barman in the lounge and downstairs pub - they thought it was great! We also enjoyed a couple of sit-down meals in the massive dining room. The hot tubs were ready and steaming when we arrived, which was a lovely touch. We’d definitely recommend it!
Emma
The house is stunning and perfectly situated in a gorgeous spot. We did have a few hiccups with the hot tub, karaoke machine, microwaveand water temperature, but nothing major. Overall, it suited our group of 29 perfectly-plenty of space, no feeling of being crampedand everyone had a great time! Definitely recommend.
Claire
We loved the location, perfect for exploring the Peak Districtand the views from the lounge and garden are stunning. The kitchen was well stocked, which made cooking easy. However, we did face a few problems-hot water pressure was inconsistent in some roomsand the hot tubs weren’t warm when we arrived. One hot tub fuse blew, knocking out the heating for a day, which was a bit of a pain. Also, the car registration machine was out of order. Despite these hiccups, we had a lovely stay overall!
Samira
We had a pretty good stay overall. The house was spacious and had all the facilities we needed, which was great. The location was spot on, just a few minutes walk to the local bars and restaurants, so that was handy. The hot tubs were a nice touch when we arrived, even if one was faulty and couldn’t be used. It was a bit annoying that there were no logs for the fire and the house was freezing when we got in. Also, no welcome info or empty bins, which was a bit disappointing. Still, we enjoyed our time!
James
We really enjoyed our stay here! The views are stunning and it’s super handy for Matlock Bath and the Peak District. The bedrooms were cosy and warm, perfect after a day out. The house worked great as a gathering spot for our wedding, with plenty of space to relax and eat together, regardless of age-from toddlers to grandparents. Only small issues like the kitchen stuff-some pans are massive and the ovens are slow-but overall, it’s a lovely place that just needs a bit of updating.
Emma
Our family of 28, from tiny babies to seniors, had a fantastic weekend here. The place was spot on for such a big group - roomy communal areas, comfy bedroomsand spotless, modern bathrooms. The kitchen was huge and well-stocked, perfect for feeding everyone. Kids loved the trampoline, adults enjoyed the hot tubsand the whole stay was hassle-free thanks to excellent communication with the organisers. Definitely a place we’d return to!
Alex Morgan
We loved this place! The house is top-notchand we’re already talking about coming back next year. Over 30 of us stayed comfortably, never feeling cramped or in each other's way. The living room has lovely views of Matlockand the pub and bar were great for hanging out. The dining area was just rightand every bedroom had an ensuite - such a bonus! The surrounding area is perfect for walks and exploring. Honestly, can’t recommend this enough, it’s a real gem!
Emma
We really enjoyed our stay! Everything we needed was providedand any questions we had were answered quickly. Thanks so much for everything!
James
We had a great weekend! Thanks for everything. The atmosphere was just fantasticand we really enjoyed our time. Hope to do it again soon!
Sophie
This property is just fantastic and in such a great location! We were a group of 34 with adults, teensand younger kids. The fact that each room has its own en-suite is such a bonusand we loved that some rooms have king beds which can be split into singles. It truly is the perfect spot for a group gathering. We had a great time doing a pub quiz and dancing the night away in the bar upstairs. The kids were all over the pool and table tennis tableand everyone enjoyed the hot tubs too!
Gary
We had a lovely weekend. After reading the reviews, we get why some folks say the place feels a bit tiredand it could definitely do with a lick of paint soon. The furniture is a touch too rustic for such a grand house, so it feels a bit out of place, but it didn't really ruin our stay. The only downside would be the smell coming from the toilets in the bar. The location is amazing, as are the views and the gardenand we would definitely come back!
Mark
We had a few minor issues with the property, but nearly 30 family members had a wonderful time in a super property with absolutely stunnning views!
