Barncroft is a luxury detached bungalow in Tansley, Derbyshire. This single-storey stunner sits in an elevated spot with panoramic views so good you might spot a castle on clear days. Perfect for big groups of up to 11 people who want to explore the Peak District without climbing stairs after a long day.

The grounds are landscaped with a huge driveway for six cars. There's a ramp for easier access too. You're just a 5-minute walk from The Tansley pub (crucial information for some of us) and only 2 miles from Matlock. The location puts you right on the doorstep of the Peak District with all its cycling routes, walks and family activities.

Inside you'll find four bedrooms including two family rooms with en-suites. There's a king-size room, a twin room and a family bathroom with a freestanding bath for long soaks. The open-plan kitchen/diner has a woodburning stove, breakfast bar and dining area big enough for everyone. The sitting room has another woodburner and Smart TV for when the weather turns British.

Nearby attractions include Black Rocks (8 miles), Matlock Farm Park (3 miles), Chatsworth House (9 miles) and Bolsover Castle (12 miles). All within easy driving distance for day trips.

A spacious bungalow which is perfect for a family get together. The bungalow was very clean and has lots of kitchen equipment. Bed linen and towels provided are of a good quality. The hot tub was perfect, with great views. Great location for walking in the Peak District. Theres a local garden centre and two pubs within walking distance. We had two lovely meals at the Gate Inn, which was decorated for Christmas.

Thank you we had a truly wonderful stay at Barncroft. A fantastic property, wonderful facilities and a superb view. We were celebrating a special birthday and Barncroft made it for us. Would suggest a doormat in the entranceporch area especially useful during the wet weather. If you are thinking of booking, dont hesitate ..I recommend it wholeheartedly .

Barncroft is a gorgeous house with stunning views. Very well equipped and very comfortably furnished. The outside space is excellent, in the summer it must be wonderful for sitting out. There is an excellent pub just a short walk away. Archie was very helpful with a small issue we had and responded promptly. I think better instructions on Sykes website to find Barncroft would be helpful ,, it is a bit tricky! We had to drive slowly to see the sign for Jackhill Farm and its a busy road. The sat navs for 3 cars couldnt identify it , we also used the directions from Sykes but We had a really lovely 3 days and will definitely come again . Its booked pretty solidly though. A very special place indeed .

Very impressive property. The view from the dining area is fantastic overlooking the Derbyshire hills. The fixtures and fittings are top notch, spotlessly clean and well equipped for a large family. We had a fabulous week and would highly recommend.

WOW, that was our initial reaction when walking into Barncroft. Not many places look as good in real life but this is one that does. All of the rooms were beautiful and the views from the dining table and hot tub were spectacular. Everything had been thought of, from instructions how to work things to testing strips and chemicals for the hot tub. There was everything you needed in the kitchen and the wine, milk, tea and coffee sachets and biscuits were a lovely touch. Shame we picked a week with some rain but it did not detract from our time there. It is in a fantastic location to visit the surrounding sights and attractions including Matlock and Matlock Bath. I had a couple of questions and Archie was lovely and quick to reply. I have already shared the details with several friends and we're in no doubt we will return to beautiful Barncroft.

I cannot find enough words to describe how amazing our stay at Barncroft was. The property was just perfect in every way, very clean, high spec and the views incredible. We went with our family and there was ten of us 6 adults, 4 children and 2 doggies. Every single one of us including the dogs felt very relaxed and at home and there was plenty of space for all our needs. I quite honestly could have stayed in the house all week and not gone out anywhere. My only disappointment was that I wanted to book it for the same week next year and it was already booked up

Excellent property, we have stayed in several Sykes cottages over the years and this property just about tops the lot. The owners have done an excellent job with the property and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had sunny weather every day and were able to take in the brilliant views from the jacuzzi, outside seating and dining room picture window. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Barncroft. The cottage is very comfortably and fitted out to a very high standard. The only very slight downside was the kitchen equipment, for example we couldn't find a cheese grater. But overall the property is excellent.

One of the cleanest, most perfect UK stays in a while. There was a family of 9 and everyone was more than happy with our stay. The views around the property were spectacular, the rooms were very spacious and every room was incredibly clean and comfortable no matter where you were. There isnt a bad thing to say about the property. Sipping a coffee outside and seeing a deer run across the adjacent fields was spectacular. Barncroft was a wonderful place and would 100 recommend to anyone. The family even suggested around going for Christmas if it wasnt already booked!

This place was perfect in every way! So spacious, perfect lay out and so clean. We took our dog and he loved it especially laying in front of the fire place! Depending on your dog, you may have to keep them on the lead as theres no fencing or gating, and theres a huge field next to the property, but it wasnt an issue for us personally. The kitchen had everything we needed so were able to cook a full English breakfast & a Sunday roast! The rooms were so spacious and beds were so comfy! The location is perfect, less than a 5 minute walk to The Tansley pub serving the most delicious food and just a short drive into Matlock & Matlock Bath. We were also able to order a takeaway and have it delivered to us from China Rose, again would recommend! We immediately booked to go back next year during our stay, we all loved it that much! 1010!

We had a wonderful few days at Barncroft. The cottage was amazing, finished to a very high standard super comfortable, well stocked and beautifully decorated a real home from home vibe. Location also perfect. No real negatives at all......below are just some thoughts we had during our stay that might help for future. We were a group of 6 women, so you may get a different perspective from other groups. 1. No scissors surprising how often you need them when there aren't any 2. We weren't sure whether we were expected to recycle? If any 'rules' guests should abide by, maybe mention in the welcome note. 3. We couldn't find the switches for the outside lighting 4. Advise guests where the Neff oven instructions are.....my friends had me to help as I have neff so no issues but others may not be familiar 5. Not sure if you need to have some kind of mat near the door that guests should use to protect the wooden flooring when coming in from the hot tub. We put towels down as we were worried the wood would warp. 6. Maybe consider plastic glasses for use round the hot tub and also for children in general. 7. Finally, and maybe an obvious one, but a note to request shoes off at the front door might be an idea to help protect the carpets. Overall 1010. Thank you to the owners for helping us make our New Year so memorable and hope to book again soon.
