This is the second time.we have stayed at Goosander cottage for an extended family (14 of us) weekend break and it did not disappoint. Once again the weather was kind to us and allowed us to have a lovely walk round the reservoir. Quality time at a quality venue.

This house has the potential to be fantastic, great location with fantastic views, lovely little touches with the personalised ducks and the amazing welcome hamper, but there were one or two things that let it down. I think there needs to be more honesty about the space; every room has an en suite, yes, but you have to be a contortionist to wash your hair in the showers. The living room was set up in a weird fashion with old sofas placed haphazardly around the room, two even back to back! It wouldn't take much to renew the sofas, maybe a couple of nice armchairs either side of the fireplace, and then corner sofas to make the best use of the space. No wardrobes in any of the rooms upstairs either, so for a week, it was a bit of a nuisance. There was an issue with drains in two of the upstairs rooms, the smell in one was particularly strong, but luckily a family member with no sense of smell stayed in there! Oh, and the wine fridge was broken on arrival - again nothing drastic, but annoying over the Christmas period.The description said it would be dressed for Christmas, but such a lovely home could have been made to feel a lot more cozy; one small tree in the corner of the room was slightly underwhelming, even a garland over the fireplace would have been a welcome addition.Don't get me started on the bonkers payment and return of the astronomic deposit!We had a great time, the pub down the road was very welcoming, and the weather allowed us to use the hot tub, even on Christmas Eve! The walks around the immediate vicinity were great - always ending at the pub! However, I feel this house would benefit from less rooms, and someone with a keen eye to look at the layout. I have stayed at better for less.
