Gates not shutting couldnt relax as dog could get out, worse for children Hot tub no outside lights no where to put bathrobes Locks on bathroom doors non existent! hooks in bathrooms for towels nowhere to put towel whilst in shower Kindling to light the fire bbq coal instead of normal.. plus sockets lack of so extension cables everywhere not very safe! Seasoning for cooking this is something you owl expect to be in the cupboard for any cooking Cupboards were all really disorganised and couldnt find anything, cutlery drawer was dirty The place is generally tired but could be amazing if some investments was made. The only positive was the owner being very reasponaove to my needs when I messaged him.

We had a fantastic stay at the old post office, house was lovely and welcoming , decorated with a lovely Christmas tree, and we were greeted with a welcome tray. Rooms were a great size, and everything working in order, lovely house to have some good quality family time, great hosting space for dinner. House is in a lovely location and near some lovely little walks, we had a lovely meal at the rising sun pub down the road. Contact with the owner was fab, he checked in to make sure everything was ok and to see if we needed anything! We will be back again.

On first entering the property it was very well presented, immaculate kitchen and bathrooms, however on further examination there were issues with the property Cleanliness thick layer of dust under the sofa, 2 areas of black mould on the ceiling in the bedroom with the sofa. Ripped wallpaper in the lounge. Facilities no wardrobes or hanging space in 3 bedrooms, no proper wine glasses big gin glasses it stated that the property was well stocked only 2 instant small logs left for the log burner and a small box of matches had to buy additional logs kindling and long matches the burner was not clear and there was no ashes box to empty the ashes. Only one dishwasher tablet left, no condiments, not enough toilet paper provided. UHT milk left not fresh. Only 2 small hooks in the kitchen for coats, could do with a generous hook instalment perhaps in the porch in the kitchen. Hot tub cover was not easy to remove and replace, on previous use of hot tubs they had handles with a mechanism that were much easier to use, the area for the hot tub is open to the road and not private, only used once because of these issues.

Very enjoying stay. We ranged in age from 4 to 82 plus one dog and we loved the property and the location. Only drawbacks were the bathroom door didn't lock but we worked out a warning system. Also when I cooked for us a larger saucepan would have come in handy but we managed. We're looking forward to coming back again.

We really liked the hot tub but thought the bathrooms were a bit below standard. The dodgy lockhandle on the main bathroom & the unfixed shower head in the downstairs shower room will hopefully be mended. Kitchen is an odd layout but was equipped with everything we needed.

Our family ages 1070 have just enjoyed a lovely weekend at The Old Post Office. It's a spacious and comfortable family home. There is plenty of crockery and cutlery. The garden area is very nice with outdoor furniture and we all enjoyed the hot tub. The area has many places to visit within a short drive. The owner was very easy to communicate with and very helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay at the old post office. However I do have to mention a few things that would have made our stay even better. First of all the wallpaper was falling off the wall in the smallest bedroom and the blind for the velux window was awful. Also the lounge was extremely dirty under the settee and wallpaper was very tatty near the tv. Which brings me to the instructions for the TV, there were none, Took a while to sort it. Instructions for everything should be clearer and a suggestion should not be on all different emails, text messages etc. Please think about a paper book for all the instructions as I had to keep looking them up instead of the other adults being able to just look for themselves. Water under the bed downstairs and owner asked us to mop it up and there wasn't a mop or a decent cleaner in the cupboard. Really should be something available to mop up with its not something guests usually bring with them. I hope you look on this as constructive criticism. We really enjoyed it nevertheless.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay . The big shower room lock key is a bit tricky and one of our guests got locked in for a short time. The cottage is spacious and wonderfully quirky. Loved the hot tub and the village is so lovely and peaceful. Enjoyed a drink in the neighbouring Nelson arms

Lovely house as described, plenty of space for the whole family. However, our biggest disappointment was the hot tub. I had booked this stay for my nieces birthday specifically for the hot tub and she was extremely excited about it. When we arrived on the first day the hot tub was cold and would not heat up due to the heating system fusing. The owners were great with communication responding quickly to our messages about this and advised us what to do. However, we still had issues with the fuse and after changing the fuse three times the hot tub still didnt work. This then meant that we werent able to use the hot tub for the first full day we were there, which was very disappointing especially when booked for this specific feature.

I would highly recommend this spacious historic property! Fabulous modern kitchen and very large dining room to enjoy family meals. Kingsize beds all very comfortable , downstairs bedroom and walk in shower perfect for my elderly parents. A recent new boiler ensures plenty of hot water, great showers and a warm and comfortable stay . The fire makes the large sitting room even more cosy. Neil is an exceptional host and responded to any questions within minutes his pre stay information pack is excellent . The Hot tub was fabulous even in January and the generous welcome pack a lovely touch. Beautiful location to enjoy walks and nearby towns and villages Perfect holiday home

We stayed here as a party of 9 adults and a baby for a joint birthday celebration, and had the most amazing time. The house is really beautiful, very well equipped and very spacious for such a large party, and very comfortable. The hot tub was a great addition, and was bubbling away for when we arrived. The downstairs bedroom was a great area for the couple with the baby, as its close to the kitchen and next to a bathroom so would highly recommend for a party with a baby who might want to be slightly seperate form the other rooms. Great location for exploring the Peak district. The only few negatives were, not all of the bedrooms had curtainsblinds that blocked out the morning sunlight not a massive negative but it was fedback to me, as the lead party booker. And the other thing was, the underneath of the sofas are very dusty and could definitley do with a vaccum, as we ended up being able to smell the dust. Overall, fantastic house with great facilities in a beautiful area. Would definitley return!

Enjoyed our stay. Rooms large and comfy beds. Well equipped kitchen. Great to have a large dining table and plenty of chairs. A bonus to have the hot tub, children really enjoyed that. We found driving into and out of parking spaces quite tight, perhaps because of our larger cars. Difficult to see when exiting onto road. We ate in the Rising Sun which we can recommend and had a drink in The Nelsons Arms, made welcome at both establishments. Ideally placed for visiting local tourist spots.

As a family of 10 with young children we found the spacious news of The Old Post Office great. With 3 toilets bathrooms we had plenty of room and the dining room fit us all in nicely. There were 2 highchairs available and a Cot was provided. Plenty of kids crockery and cutlery which was super handy. We walked to the Rising Sun 10 mins away and had a lovely pub lunch, but there was also a pub closer which we didn't try. Really enjoyed the stay, will book again. Thanks so much.

The owner was fanatastic, very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The welcome pack and information provided was a lovely touch and very helpful. The cottage was gorgeous and catered for everyones needs. The location is perfect to see the sights even if you dont have a vehicle. The main concern was exiting the property onto a blind bend we all felt that a mirror opposite would be a real help. But the welcome pack was wonderful and very appreciated. A couple of small items were the loose toilet seat downstairs and the door being difficult to open and close. There were no instructions what to do about stripping beds and used towels. We felt it was best to leave them so hope we didnt offend. We had a lovely few days and was enjoyed by all.

He allowed us to stay an extra night free of charge and providing a an extensive welcome tray all so generous The location of the Old Post Office is superb. 15 mins from Carsington Water and a short drive to iiyam. Absolutely stunning. There is plenty of room at the old post office, the bed linen and towels beautifully clean and of high quality. The kitchen is well equipped and we enjoyed sitting around the large dining table in the evening. If you are taking someone elderly or with mobility issues I would recommend you visit the property first to assess suitability.

There were 11 of us staying at the Old Post Office to celebrate a family birthday. It was absolutely perfect. The space, character and the hot tub were fantastic! A beautiful property with everything we needed. Would totally recommend the shower too! Brilliant! 2 minute drive down the road is Matlock Bath such a beautiful place. To sit in the sun along the river with a coffee was medicine for the soul. We ate at local pub, which was a five minute walk. They made us feel so welcome and couldn't do enough for the children, us adults and the Dog! My husband and our four legged friend visited the other pub for a 'perfect pint' Saturday afternoon, only a few doors up from the house and again was made to feel welcome. Lots off food left from previous occupants, bread open nuts open crisps all in kitchen draw , untidiness out side weeds old rotten logs , lots off dirt under sofa recliner ,pipe in bed room with sofa in not very good everyone kicked it needs covering .

We had a great time staying at the old post office to celebrate a 60th birthday. The house is a beautiful place to stay. The owner has provided everything you need, we had a slight problem with one of the bathrooms but was resolved by Neil really quick. The cleanliness and maintenance of the property was very poor, mould, dust and dirt was present throughout the property . The hot tub did not work properly. The dishwasher was broken which resulted in my husband trying to unblock it when we arrived as the smell was horrific. There was not enough hot water in the tank for everyone to shower when they wanted, this caused a few issues as we were a party of 10.

We stayed at the Old Post Office over Christmas 2023. There were 6 of us 3 generations of family. The house was as described very spacious and comfortable. It was cold when we arrived friday and took quite some time to warm up but was then almost too hot especially when the woodburner in the sitting room was lit. There were fire lighters provided but no logs for the woodburner but luckily we had brought some . The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, crockery and glassware although strangely there were no serving spoons. I thought the fridgefreezer was a little small for the size of house and number of people who it can accomodate but there was a sort of pantry which we used for vegetables and other foods that didn't need refridgeration. We didn't have a problem with the TV's I saw a previous review that mentioned difficulties but perhaps the instructions for how to get onto the Freesat stations live TV could be expanded? The host was very helpful and friendly and I'm sure that if we had had any problems he would have done what he could to help. Luckily we didn't need to bother him. The village pub is 50 metres away and was very welcoming and dog friendly. The weather was atrocious when we were staying at the Old Post Office which is a shame as there seemed to be a lot of good local walks and beautiful scenery on the doorstep. The one thing we weren't keen on was the bunk bed arrangement in the smallest bedroom.My daughter found it difficult to sit up in bed to read because of the single bunk above. A double bed or even two singles would have been better.

The house was spacious and great for a large party of 8, lounge seated everyone and dining room seated 10. The hot tub was a great bonus too. Our concern was with the comfort and cleanliness of the property. The kitchen was dirty in some cupboards, drawers and the oven trays and coffee machine. One of the beds was not clean and the dishwasher didnt empty, the top oven keep tripping the electric. Whilst we realised it was an older property it was not adequately maintained, there were things missing or in short supply. No teapot lid, dirty pan scrubber, missing shade from bedside lamp, no bin lid dog loved this one! Whilst overall we had a great family weekend, on arrival at the house it was freezing and we were extremely disappointed after paying a larger fee than our normal rate for our Christmas weekend away. We sent pics etc and messages to the owner who didnt actually seem too bothered and kept referring us to the qr code which didnt work !!! We also phoned on our arrival and got no response on the Friday This could be an amazing place size wise but need a massive overhaul and a look at cleaning protocols. Turn on the heating for guests arrival!!

Friendly host, very good communication and instructions. House is lovely and has everything you could need. It's quirky facing sidewards to the road, but we had a very comfortable stay. High peak trail is lovely for a walk and there are plenty of nice puns nearby. Recommend the Hope and Anchor for Sunday lunch and lovely vegan options

Very helpful Neil sourced a tea pot and extra towels for us as soon as he realised we needed them for our stay. We couldn't get 'live' TV only catch up so be prepared and come with your logins. There was only minimal loo roll left and no kitchen roll so bring spares if you have a large party.

We loved the welcome basket and the really quick response time to my questions about equipment. Neil arranged for hairdryers and a weighing scale to be delivered while we were there! That's customer service. The dishwasher did fail and although Neil gave us advice we couldn't use it but this did not stop us having a lovely time for our granddaughter's birthday.
